Isolation
We used swabs to pull our DNA out of our cheek cells. This allowed us to see our DNA and represent Isolation
Amplification
We used an online lab to make the markeres many times their original size.
Separation
We used electrophoresis to separate the makers and decided if the suspects DNA matches the Evidence.
Analyzation
Studied the DNA in electrophoresis to decide if it matched the suspects DNA.
By doing this, we can for sure if a person is innocent or guilty. Many people who were innocent were exonerated because of this technology and helps to improve the rate of guilty vs. innocent people convicted.
My project was based on the first women exonerate. She had been a bad mother and came home to find her daughter dead. The police thought it was her and therefore convicted her of the crime. She was exonerated after the test result from forensics and said that her daughter died of an overdose and as well, the DNA in the room did not match the mother.
I got a much better understanding of how DNA is tested to tell if it matches the suspect. It had always seemed like a godly science in the way that I had no idea how it worked. I was very happy with how my photoshop poster turned out and it really represented the exoneree well. Even so, I would next time try to make a complete after-effects movie now that I know the program. Regardless, I enjoyed the project as a whole.
Biology -- the science that studies living organisms
To lead up to this project, we learned a great deal about the human body. Then we each went off into the part of the body that we all appreciated the most. After that, we did research and found out about the certain type of the body that we liked.
The purpose of this project was to learn about the human body in a deeper fashion and use our skills to present it as a web page that is open to the world. For me I used my knowledge that I learned to draw a representation of the way that the white blood cells work. I feel I gained a great knowledge of the human body and it was a very beneficial project for me.
My role was to find a creative way to show the knowledge that I knew. I had to also make a web page to showcase what I had learned. I had to create a beautiful way to show all of my work and make it professional to be seen by a community as a whole.
Everything that I did during this project, I was very proud of and have very few changes that I would make if I were to re-do it. In my next project, I would like to try to connect even more to it and make it relay to me more. Even so, I found a great deal of relevance from this project and am very happy with how I connected it to the things that my mom works on. Because of this project I will take away from this semester a much much better understanding of the human body.
